To qualify for admission to the John B. Turner LL.M. program, applicants must have earned their first law degree — LL.B., J.D., or equivalent. Admission is highly selective, and those admitted must have excellent law school records, strong letters of recommendation, proficiency in English and leadership potential. Although not required, some work or research experience following completion of the first law degree is preferred.
Applicants are urged to submit their application and supporting documents as soon as possible to receive priority review. Students may submit applications either through LSAC or the OU Law website, as noted below (links open in new windows).
Online LL.M. students may start their program in the Fall, Spring, or Summer semester. The Admissions Committee will carefully examine all parts of the application and will inform the applicant via email of their decision. Late applications will be accepted and admissions may continue until the start of classes.
On-Campus LL.M. students may start their program in the Fall semester of an academic year. The Admissions Committee will carefully examine all parts of the application and will inform the applicant via email of their decision. International students must file a completed application and all related materials by June 1st for a Fall semester start to allow sufficient time to secure a student visa.
