Inside OU Law has digitally replaced the printed magazine, Sooner Lawyer. The Sooner Lawyer archive is available digitally. Sooner Lawyer was the flagship alumni publication for the OU College of Law. Published on a biannual basis, Sooner Lawyer told unique OU Law stories of both current students, faculty, and alumni alike.

1970s
Oklahoma State System of Higher Education Chancellor Glen D. Johnson (’79) has been appointed to serve on the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Council of State Representatives.

Edgar C. Morrison, Jr. (‘79) was selected for inclusion in the 2020 Chambers USA Guide for Healthcare Law, 2020 Super Lawyers and 2021 The Best Lawyers in America list. He is a partner of Jackson Walker LLP in San Antonio, TX.
 

1980s

Charles E. “Charlie” Geister III (’80) will serve as the Oklahoma Bar Association’s 2021 vice president. He is a partner at the Oklahoma City law firm of Hartzog Conger Cason LLP.

Malcolm E. Rosser IV (’81) was recently named a Fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. He is an attorney for Crowe & Dunlevy in Tulsa, OK.

Senator Kay Floyd (‘83) recently received the State Regents for Higher Education’s 2021 Distinguished Service Award. She serves as the Oklahoma Senate Democratic Leader and as the top Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Joe C. Lewallen, Jr. (85) was re-elected to McAfee & Taft’s Board of Directors. He is a shareholder and a veteran real estate and business attorney located in the Oklahoma City offices.

Timothy J. Bomhoff (’88) was re-elected to McAfee & Taft’s Board of Directors. He is a shareholder and trial lawyer located in the Oklahoma City offices.
 

1990s

Michael F. Lauderdale (‘90) was re-elected to a third three-year term as managing director of the Board at McAfee & Taft. In addition to his role on the Board of Directors, he is a shareholder located in the Oklahoma City offices.

Paul E. Vrana (’92) was selected for inclusion in the 2021 The Best Lawyers in America list. He is of counsel at Jackson Walker LLP in Fort Worth, TX.

Jennifer H. Callahan (’96) was re-elected to McAfee & Taft’s Board of Directors. She is an industry group leader and shareholder located in the Oklahoma City offices.

Robert "Don" Gifford ('96) was honored by  the Cherokee Nation with the “Medal of Patriotism” for his 23 years of military service as both an active duty Army Judge Advocate (JAG Corps) and in the reserves, as well as his contributions to service members and veterans in his private practice.  Col. Gifford retired from the Army Reserves in 2019 and maintains a law practice in both Oklahoma City and Tulsa. He is currently the Chair of the Military and Veterans Law Section for the Oklahoma Bar Association.

 

2000s

Stephen M. Hetrick (’03) was re-elected to McAfee & Taft’s Board of Directors. He is a shareholder and corporate attorney located in the Tulsa, OK offices.

James Wylie (’08) received the annual Award for Excellence in Management from the Federal Housing Finance Agency. He is the manager for the Office of Fair Lending Oversight at the agency, which regulates Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Federal Home Loan Bank system.

 

2010s

Kayna Stavast Levy (’11) was elected as a Fellow to the Texas Bar Foundation. She is of counsel at Wittliff Cutter in Austin, TX.

Jacob S. Crawford (’12) was elected as a shareholder of McAfee & Taft. He is a trial lawyer located in the Tulsa offices.

Isaac B. Helmerich (’12) was elected as shareholder to Hall Estill’s Oklahoma offices. He joined Hall Estill in 2018 and represents clients in the areas of business and corporate law, estate planning, commercial transactions, complex commercial litigation and insurance company liquidations.

Amanda Pennington Prugh (’12) was named one of D Magazine's 2021 Best Lawyers Under 40. This is the second consecutive year that D Magazine has honored Prugh as one of the region’s outstanding up-and-coming lawyers. She is a Dallas-based counsel and member of the Litigation Department at international law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.

JohnDavid Brown (’13) was elected as a shareholder of McAfee & Taft. He is an aviation lawyer located in the Oklahoma City offices.

Scott Delaney (’13) was appointed of counsel in the Private Equity Practice at Well, Gotshal & Manges Dallas office.

Jared R. Ford (’13) was elected as shareholder to Hall Estill’s Oklahoma offices. He joined Hall Estill in 2017 and represents clients in the areas of commercial real estate, working capital, asset-based and acquisition financing, complex business transactions and general real property law with a particular emphasis on the energy sector. 

Paige Hoster Good (’13) was elected as a shareholder of McAfee & Taft. She is a trial attorney located in the Oklahoma City offices.

Nathaniel Hales (’13) has been named Special Judge in Cleveland County and took the Bench beginning on Oct. 13, 2020.

Kevin R. Kemper (’16, LL.M.) was named the 2020 winner of the Marian Opala First Amendment Award from FOI Oklahoma, a non-profit group that promotes transparency for Oklahoma government and citizens.. He is an attorney and owner of Law Office of Kevin R. Kemper, PLLC, and serves of counsel for the Burr Law Offices, PLLC, in Oklahoma City.

Ashley E. Quinn (’17) joined Wilson Turner Kosmo as an associate attorney in the firm’s Product Liability and Warranty groups. While pursuing her law degree, Quinn served as a judicial intern for the Hon. Robert E. Bacharach of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She also served as an articles editor of the Oklahoma Law Review and on the school’s Board of Governors.

Bryan Lynch (’18) joined Hall Estill as an associate attorney in the Tulsa Office. He is a member of the Order of the Coif, Order of the Barristers, and Phi Beta Kappa and served as a Cortez A.M. Ewing Public Service Fellow. While in law school, Lynch served as an assistant executive editor of the American Indian Law Review and was two-time member of the OU College of Law National Moot Court Team.

 

2020s

Jacob P. Black (’20) joined the law firm of McAfee & Taft in its Oklahoma City office. While in law school, he served as an editor of the Oklahoma Law Review, was a member of Phi Delta Phi and the Board of Advocates, and was the recipient of numerous scholarships and honors, including the Nathan Scarritt Prize for the highest academic record in his graduating class.

Evan J. Crumpley (’20) joined the law firm of McAfee & Taft in its Oklahoma City office. While in law school, he served as the scoring director of the Board of Advocates and as an assistant articles editor of the Oklahoma Law Review.

Courtney D. Keeling (’20) joined the law firm of McAfee & Taft in its Oklahoma City office. While in law school, she served as a note and comment editor of the Oklahoma Law Review, worked as a legal extern to the Honorable Robert Bacharach of the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and was a member of the Board of Advocates, Organization for the Advancement of Women in Law, and Phi Delta Phi legal honor society.

Haley J. Maynard (’20) joined the law firm of McAfee & Taft in its Oklahoma City office. While in law school, she served as assistant executive editor of the American Indian Law Review, earned American Jurisprudence Awards in criminal law and family law, and was a member of the Board of Advocates, Business Law Society, Sports and Entertainment Law Society, and Phi Delta Phi legal honor society.
